Continuing on the fiber theme, Engadget has a post on Verizon’s rollout of GPON (gigabit passive optical network) technology. Sadly the post includes no mention of Motorola as one of the GPON providers, but that’s neither here nor there. What interested me was one of the comments on the post. Someone claimed that when he graduates (college, I assume?) he’s going to apply for jobs mainly in places with FiOS service.
Wow.
Will employers and economic development organizations start to use FiOS connections as a recruiting tool? “Come work in our beautiful state! We offer great quality of life and Fiber to the Home!” Will we see mini population explosions in FiOS areas?
